Poet Manushyaputhiran’s “Aaluyara Mazhaiththuli” (ஆளுயர மழைத்துளி), translated.

Tiny and huge,
raindrops, galore.
A life-size raindrop
walks
on the rainy road.
Walking beside
thousands and thousands
of raindrops
avoiding getting drenched,
holding the haft of the cloth,
it scurries past
beneath a little umbrella.
Even you
must be going behind
one of those life-size raindrops
knowing well that
it will melt
the moment
you set your eyes.
Yet,
in the moment preceding,
you surrender your heart
so completely
as if,
that raindrop
is the monsoon.
